Assisted Decision Making

We are delighted to launch our new animated video on the Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Act or ADM which was enacted into law last year.

This legislation brings an end to the wardship system in Ireland and replaces it with a new legal framework for supported decision-making for adults who need assistance and support to maximise their ability to make decisions about themselves.

The video was co-produced with a group of experts by experience. It provides information in plain English to help people with mental health difficulties understand their rights under the legislation.

It also explains key terms including the Advanced Healthcare Directives and the Decision support service.
