Dr Sheila Gilheany is CEO of Alcohol Action Ireland (AAI), the national independent advocate for evidence-based alcohol policy. Under her leadership since 2019, AAI has focused on issues such as pricing, marketing, and availability of alcohol, while also promoting trauma-informed services for those affected by alcohol harm, including children of parents with alcohol misuse. Sheila has previously led organisations in science, education, and autism. She serves on the Public Health Alcohol Research Group, advising the Minister for Health, and is a Board member of Eurocare, the European alliance for alcohol policy NGOs.
